Is it OK to give perfume as a Xmas gift which is not BNIB (Brand new in Box)?
Someone bought a load of discounted perfume from a large department store which went out of business. They were out of the box and some had the tops missing. Most were unused tester bottles.
Is it OK to give these to family for gifts?
I figure there is a reason why items on Ebay which are BNIB sell for a higher price.
I would give the ones with tops (regardless of broken or not) as a present. I would find a box to put them into which has a lovely internal covering and then plead breakage from dropping earlier on when getting out of the car!
The ones without tops would come across at cheap and nasty present and wouldn’t earn you any favours.

no//./…… always have it in a boxReferences :
I dont think your family would mind if its out of the box but maybe if the top is missing or broken it may be a problem for using it, & really it's the thought that counts.References :
family yes, friends no and only unused ones.References :
I would not do that.References :
I would have to say no it's not OK. If you did give it like that it would most likely be thrown away and you would be thought of as a cheapskate.References : What I would do and think.
It will come off a little tacky if you do. Unless you use them as a stocking stuffer and just stick the perfumes in the stocking. You may get away with that. Or, after giving out your real gifts, ask if they'd also like one of your perfumes. This way they can decide whether or not they like it and it'll be more of a kind gesture than a Christmas gift but it will be just as appreciated. Trying to pass them off as gifts for Christmas though would make you look bad.References :
that is strange! if i got that as a gift i would think it is taky.References :
im sure santa got most of his presents off ebay too, so dont worry about itReferences :
There is no problem buying these but I would advise NOT to give as official Christmas, birthday, or other pressy times. Spend extra and make the item special, unless you want to end up getting hit on the head by the perfume bottle from disgruntled lady friends and relatives.
These item are only good enough for a surprise gift, although, I would warn you of one problem which is the seller letting you smell/test a bottle, then hand you a different bottle after you hand over the money. Often the bottle you receive will be watered down or other disgusting yellow tinged liquid, (do you understand?), and is a scam.
Better to just stick to the real thing in it's proper bottle and box, to impress and stay alive……References :

only as a 2ndary gift.
perfume is a very specialized gift… most of them I don't like at all!References :
If you're under the age of 16, then that's perfectly fine, they will appreciate it, it's the thought that counts. However, if you have a job and money, i think you're being a bit tight.References :

no, this would not make people happy, there could have been a substitution made with a cheap mix and not the original which people could have an allergy to.References :
