    thanks! sounds …
thanks! sounds great[ish] haha! Well, what do you think of Britney’s perfume, Curious?

  • KatiePuckrikSmells:

    @ …
@amandasamonsterhaha Jessica McClintock is a white floral featuring lily of the valley. It has a lot of fans, but some people find it gets a little sour on the skin after a while. Another white floral featuring lily of the valley is the newest Guerlain, Idylle. I think that one’s really pretty and feminine, and the musk base makes it sensual.

  • KatiePuckrikSmells:

    @ …
@amandasamonsterhaha Curious is a pretty cheap-o smelling candied fruity floral, & there are so many fruity-florals out there, so its easy to find a nicer one.

Fancy by Jessica Simpson is a more pulled-together & polished one, for instance. Dior Dolce Vita is a more sophisticated one, and Comptoir Sud Pacifique Vanille Abricot is a foodier one. Also try Tocade by Rochas if you ever see it: a caramelized vanilla rose. I also love Scarlett by Cacherel, a great fruity-floral featuring jasmine.

  • KatiePuckrikSmells:

    @crazykurs10 …
@crazykurs10 Jubilation XXV is an absolute banquet of a fragrance. It also features rich fruit and date notes, along with oud wood, which makes everything deeper and more complex.

  • KatiePuckrikSmells:

    @melenmelenmelen …
@melenmelenmelen MdM does have a certain amount of mystery to it, though I’m not feeling the “cold stone walls and mildew” that it seems to evoke for many wearers. It’s unequivocally warm and human to me, with its animalic aspect.

  • amandasamonsterhaha:

    69-71 perfumes! wow …
69-71 perfumes! wow! that’s awesome! How would you rate the britney spears perfume, Curious? Also, how’s Jessica Mclintock. [I don't think I spelled that right] (:

  • melenmelenmelen:

    Thanks for your …
Thanks for your answer! Very interesting indeed! I’m tempted by your description of how MdM is warmer, subtler and more complex. It also seems to invoke a lot of emotions in people (judging by online reviews). Time to hunt down a bottle/sample… :)

  • crazykurs10:

ah I want to try …
ah I want to try the Bible one!

  • KatiePuckrikSmells:

    To answer your …
To answer your question, I’ve just sprayed each on the back of my hands, and I would describe Passage d’Enfer as crisp, bright, incense, with an aldehyde-like sharpness to the lily. It’s a bit loud and “there”. Messe de Minuit is completely different: a spicy orange opening that leads into a warm, almost scalpy-smelling myrrh and incense. MdM is simultaneously more subtle and complex than PdE. It also smells more physical than spiritual.

  • KatiePuckrikSmells:

    Yeah, there are a …
Yeah, there are a LOT of Bond No. 9 bottles staring you down at the counter.

  • KatiePuckrikSmells:

    Uh oh…
    Uh oh…

  • KatiePuckrikSmells:

    It’s pretty much …
It’s pretty much only carried in Chanel boutiques…la dee dah.

  • KatiePuckrikSmells:

    Feel the fear and …
Feel the fear and count them anyway!

  • KatiePuckrikSmells:

    That’s funny! Glad …
That’s funny! Glad you’re squeezing all the nutrition out of it that you can.

  • KatiePuckrikSmells:

    Thanks, …
Thanks, healingv1sion! There are some lovely patchouli-free incenses out there, but if the oil does the trick for you, then that’s nicely economical.

  • KatiePuckrikSmells:

    The bottles are …
The bottles are gorgeous, aren’t they? They’re among my newest perfumes, and I’m still getting to know them. Both Stoned and Cosmic are created by Lyn Harris of Miller Harris, and both harken back to some classy perfume masterworks. Stoned is a feminine, powdery oriental that has a hint of cotton candy, but it’s also quite sheer, interestingly. Cosmic is also powdery, but also has a citrus lift to it. They both smell like new readings on vintage favorites.

  • KatiePuckrikSmells:

    Heh!
    Heh!

  • KatiePuckrikSmells:

    Right?!
    Right?!

  • dekalogue:

Please, please, please I need more Katie!!! You are so brave to count you beloved juice bottles :) . I would be far too afraid!! Can’t wait for #2!!

  • melenmelenmelen:

    Hey Katie, have you …
Hey Katie, have you by any chance smelled Etro’s Messe de Minuit? I’m hankering to buy it based off the romantic descriptions (dark Gothic dungeons, mysterious castles, pining away, etc.) but I’m not that big a fan of incense (don’t really like Passage d’Enfer, alas). If you’ve smelled it, how does it compare to Passage d’Enfer? Love your reviews!!!

  • mediter:

    Very nice! You …
Very nice! You recommended Coromandel to me before, but it seems impossible to find :O I hope to try it someday.

  • mementofinis85:

    OMG. Katie…. I …
OMG. Katie…. I think you might have an addiction.

  • thelipprint:

    Fabulous collection …
Fabulous collection – loving everything you’ve shown so far! Bond #9 has always interested me but I find their line so over whelming I don’t know where to start sniffing haha I might seek out Silver Factory next time :)
