Transcript:
There’s nothing in Flower by Kenzo that smells like an actual flower – on planet Earth, that is. I don’t want to discount the rest of the universe. That would be hasty. This intriguing eau de parfum is more like how a space alien would describe a flower: “Structure explodes from wet dirt. Structure emits odor that compels other life forces to attempt sex with structure. Beep!” Why do all space aliens beep? It’s so predictable.
At first, Flower is watery and delightfully strange. It’s hard to process what you’re smelling…melon? Pencil shavings? Then it warms up into sexy musky baby powder. It’s a nice clash of freshness and intimacy. By the way, intimacy is code for lady knickers – yeah! Along with sweet myrhh and white musk, the ingredients include cassie and hawthorne. These flowers are innocent-looking – with minds in the gutter. They’re a little overripe and unclean – yeah!
Bizarrely, Flower gets louder and more ertive the longer you have it on. I start to register Parma violets – the candy version of flowers. Overall, Flower is less flowery than woody. And you might have to deal with one of those if you wear it. I’m Katie Puckrik, and I smell.
